Pilot History Pilot George H. Gossom flew at least 88 combat missions in the South West Pacific. In February 1997, he died in the New Orleans area. Aircraft History Built by Douglas Aircraft Company. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as A-20G Havoc serial number unknown. This aircraft was either a A-30G or A-20H model. Disassembled and shipped overseas to Australia and reassembled. Wartime History Assigned to the 5th Air Force (5th AF), 3rd Bombardment Group (3rd BG), 8th Bombardment Squadron (8th BS). Assigned to Captain George H. Gossom. Nicknamed "Gruesome Goose". This aircraft flew at least 80 combat missions, either the highest, or one of the highest mission aircraft in the 8th Squadron by the end of the Pacific War operating from Bolo Field on Okinawa.
