Aircraft History Built by Boeing at Seattle. Constructors Number 2314. During January 1942 delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as B-17E Flying Fortress serial number 41-2503. Wartime History Assigned to the 7th Bombardment Group (7th BG). No known nickname or nose art. On January 25, 1942 departed MacDill Field piloted by Lt. Charles F. Franklin on a ferry flight via the "African Route" to Java. On February 19, 1942 while parked at Bandoeng Airfield in Java destroyed during a Japanese air raid when it caught fire and burned.
