Aircraft History Built by Boeing at Seattle. Constructors Number 2566. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) B-17E Flying Fortress serial number 41-9094. Wartime History Assigned to the 11th Air Force (11th AF), 28th Bombardment Group (28th BG), 36th Bombardment Squadron (36th BS). No known nose art or nickname. Mission History On January 21, 1943 took off on a mission. While flying between Umnak Island and Adak Island collided with B-17E Flying Fortress 41-2586 causing it to crash. This bomber sustained damage to the tail and right stabilizer but managed to land at Adak Airfield. Afterwards, repaired and returned to service. Ultimate fate unknown, likely scrapped or otherwise disappeared.
