Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as B-24D-15-CO Liberator serial number 41-24093. Ferried overseas via Hickam Field to the South Pacific (SOPAC). Wartime History Assigned to the 13th Air Force, 307th Bombardment Group (307th BG), 370th Bombardment Squadron (370th BS). Nicknamed "Ready Teddy". When lost, engines R-1830-43 Serial Numbers: a) 42-41307 b) 42-42036 c) 42-44427 d) 42-43686. Mission History On July 6, 1943 took off from Carney Field on Guadalcanal piloted by 1st Lt. Joseph R. Littlepage on a bombing mission against Kahili Airfield and Ballale Airfield. Last seen around 7:00-7:15pm over Choiseul. When this bomber failed to return and was reported as Missing In Action (MIA). Also lost is B-24D Liberator 42-40230 pilot 1st Lt. Don F. Hathaway (MIA). Memorials The entire crew was declared dead on January 21, 1946. Each member of the crew earned the Air Medal and Purple Heart, posthumously. All are memorialized at Manila American Cemetery on the tablets of the missing. Littlepage also has a memorial marker at Spring Hill Cemetery in Charleston, WV at cenotaph. Denison also has a memorial marker at Bluff View Cemetery in Vermillion, SD. He is also memorialized at the South Dakota World War II Memorial in Pierre, SD. Cluff also has a memorial marker at Ogden City Cemetery in Ogden, UT. He is also memorialized at Memory Grove Memorial in Salt Lake City, UT.
