When lost, engines R-1830-43 Serial Numbers: a) 42-41307 b) 42-42036 c) 42-44427 d) 42-43686. Mission History On July 6, 1943 took off from Carney Field on Guadalcanal piloted by 1st Lt. Joseph R. Littlepage on a bombing mission against Kahili Airfield and Ballale Airfield. Last seen around 7:00-7:15pm over Choiseul. When this bomber failed to return and was reported as Missing In Action (MIA). Memorials The entire crew was declared dead on January 21, 1946. All earned the Purple Heart, posthumously. The entire crew is memorialized at Manila American Cemetery on the tablets of the missing. Littlepage earned the Air Medal and Purple Heart, posthumously. He also has a memorial marker at Spring Hill Cemetery in Charleston, WV at cenotaph. Goddard earned the Air Medal and Purple Heart, posthumously.
