Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as B-25H-1 Mitchell serial number 43-4360. Ferried overseas to China-India-Burma (CBI). Wartime History Assigned to 10th Air Force (10th AF), 341st Bombardment Group (341st BG), 491st Bombardment Squadron (491st BS). No known nose art or nickname. When lost, engines R-2600-1 serial numbers 43-21465 and 43-2146. Weapon serial numbers noted on Missing Air Crew Report 4735 (MACR 4735). Mission History On May 13, 1944 took off from Yangkai Airfield in China piloted by 1st Lt. Vernon R. Gauvain on a mission over Lungling. After leaving the target, weather was overcast and this B-25 was last seen entering overcast at 24' 43" N 100' 27" E. Memorials The entire crew was officially declared dead the day of the mission.
