Background
The 341st Bombardment Group (Medium) was part of the 10th Air Force (10th AF) in the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF). The 341st Bomb Group included the Headquarters Squadron (HQ Squadron), 11th Bombardment Squadron (11th BS), 490th Bombardment Squadron (490th BS) "Burma Bridge Busters" and 491st Bombardment Squadron (491st BS). During World War II, operated the B-25 Mitchell in the South West Pacific Area (SWPA). On September 15, 1942 the 341st Bomb Group was activated at Karachi Airfield in Pakistan. On October 3, 1942 the 341st Bomb Group was assigned to the India Air Task Force (IATF).
