Aircraft History
Built by Martin in Baltimore, Maryland. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as B-26 Marauder serial number 40-1398. During the middle of 1941, assigned to the 22nd Bombardment Group (22nd BG), 18th Reconnaissance Squadron (18th RS) at Langley Field, Virginia. Assigned squadron number 13. Disassembled and shipped as cargo aboard a ship to Oahu. During late February 1942 at Hickam Field reassembled by the Hawaiian Air Depot (HAD). Assigned to pilot 1st Lt. James P. Muri.

Mission History
On February 25, 1942 took off from Hickam Field piloted by Lt. Col. Albert C. Boyd (C. O. Hawaiian Air Depot) on a test flight. During take off off, the right engine burst into flames and ditched into the sea off Fort Kamehaha on Oahu then came to rest on the mud flats and beach. The entire crew survived unhurt. Afterwards, this bomber was salvaged. Ultimate fate unknown, likely written off or scrapped.
