Aircraft History Built by the Department of Aircraft Production (DAP) at Fishermans Bend in Melbourne. Delivered to the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) as Beaufort Mark VIII serial number A9-210. Wartime History Assigned to No. 100 Squadron with code QH-D. No known nickname or nose art. On April 3, 1943 took off piloted by F/O Walsh and crash landed in New South Wales. Afterwards, repaired and returned to service. Mission History On July 13, 1944 crashed at Tadji Airfield. During August 1944 aproval for conversion to components and abandoned at Tadji Airfield. Wreckage Until 1974, this Beaufort remained in situ at Tadji Airfield. Recovery During 1974, this Beaufort was salvaged by Charles Darby and Monty Armstrong on behalf of David Tallichet / Yesterday's Air Force (MARC). Instead, of being shipped to the United States, this Beaufort was shipped to Monty Armstrong in New Zealand and then to Australia where it was sold. Display This Beaufort is displayed at the Australian Army Museum of Flying, at Oakey Airfield, it is partially restored with the fuselage section of Beaufort A9-13.
