Aircraft History
Built by Douglas Aircraft Company. Construction Number 6048. On November 17, 1942 delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as C-47-DL Skytrain serial number 41-38665. Ferried overseas via Hickam Field then across the Pacific to Australia.

Wartime History
On January 15, 1943 assigned to the 5th Air Force (5th AF), 374th Troop Carrier Group (374th TCG), 22nd Troop Carrier Squadron (22nd TCS). Nicknamed "The "Jayhawk" 2nd" (with double quotes around "Jayhawk") after C-47 "The Jayhawk" 41-18598 was damaged. Nose Number / Buzz Number 86.

During 1943, this C-47 operated from 5 Mile Drome (Ward) near Port Moresby. On February 14, 1943 photographed with the flight crew Lt. Leslie B. Sigman pilot, Lt. Clarence A. Lakin pilot, TSgt George E. Zorback crew cheif, Cpl Ralph E. Ganll engineer parked at Port Moresby

During 1944-1945 operated in the South West Pacific Area (SWPA) in the Netherlands East Indies (NEI) and Philipiines. On December 31, 1945 written off at Tacloban Airfield. Ultimate fate unknown likely scrapped or otherwise disappeared.
