Aircraft History
Built by Douglas. Delivered to the U. S. Army Air Force (USAF) as C-47 C-47A-35-DL Dakota serial number 42-23856. Ferried overseas via Hickam Field then across the Pacific to Australia.

Wartime History
Assigned to the 5th Air Force, 433rd Troop Carrier Group, 69th Troop Carrier Squadron. Australian call sign VH-CDZ. Squadron Number 60 (Buzz Number 60) painted on the left and right sides of the cockpit. Nicknamed "Polly" in white on both sides of the nose. During early 1943, this C-47 operated from 5 Mile Drome (Ward) near Port Moresby.

On June 13, 1944 suffered a mid-air collision with C-47A 42-92028 near Dumpu, no injuries were sustained aboard. Ultimate fate unknown, likely scrapped or otherwise disappeared.
