Background
On January 22, 1943 constituted as the 69th Troop Carrier Squadron (69th TCS) in the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF). On February 9, 1943 activated at Florence Army Air Field in the 433rd Troop Carrier Group (433rd TCG). On March 19, 1943 moves to Sedalia Army Airfield. On June 5, 1943 moves to Laurinburg-Maxtom Army Airfield. On August 1, 1943 moves to Baer Field in Indiana then deployed overseas to the South West Pacific Area (SWPA).
Wartime History
On September 1, 1943 moves to Port Moresby in New Guinea.
During October 1943, B-17E "The Last Straw" 41-2432 assigned to the squadron as an armed transport.
On January 10, 1944 moves to Nadzab Airfield.
On September 14, 1944 force landed is C-47A "Hell's Bells" 42-23959 pilot 1st Lt Joe Pate (survived) near Galley Reach.
On January 5, 1945 moves to Biak.
On January 26, 1945 moves to Tanauan Airfield on Leyte in the Philippines.
On June 1, 1945 moves to Clark Field on Luzon.
On August 25, 1945 moves to Iwo Jima off Japan until the end of the Pacific War.
On September 12, 1945 move to Ie Shima Airfield off Okinawa.
On September 30, 1945 moves to Tachikawa Airfield near Tokyo in Japan.
Postwar
On January 15, 1946
inactivated. On August 3, 1947 activated in the reserves at Cleveland Airport in Ohio. On September 18, 1947 becomes part of the U.S. Air Force (USAF). On June 27, 1949 redesignated as 69th TCS (Medium). On October 15, 1949 ordered to active service. On October 18, 1950 moves to Greenville Army Airfield equipped with the C-119 Flying Boxcar. On July 14, 1952 inactivated. On August 6, 1951 movest to Rhein/Main Air Base in West Germany. On March 25, 1956 activated in the reserve at Tinker Air Force Base (Tinker AFB). On November 16, 1957 moves to Dallas in Texas. On April 14, 1959 became part of the 433rd Troop Carrier Wing (433rd TCW). On January 17, 1963 assigned to the 923rd Troop Carrier Group (923rd TCG). On March 3, 1963 moves to Carswell Air Force Base (Carswell AFB).
