Aircraft History Built by Lockheed Aircraft Corporation (LAC) in Burbank. Constructor Number 6464. Delivered to the U.S. Army as RA-29 serial number 41-36975. Royal Air Force (RAF) serial number FH174. Ferried overseas to Australia under defense aid. Wartime History Delivered to the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) as Hudson Mark III serial number A16-199. On April 2, 1942 assigned to 1 Air Depot (1 AD). On June 30, 1942 assigned to No. 13 Squadron. On October 22, 1942 received by 5 Air Depot (5 AD). On November 24, 1942 assigned to 1 Air Depot (1 AD), then returned to No. 13 Squadron on November 30, 1942. On February 3, 1943 claimed a F1M2 Pete on a mission against Pobo Island. On February 13, 1943 transferred to 1 Repair Salvage Unit (1 RSU). Afterwards, transferred to No. 2 Squadron on April 4, 1943. On April 14, 1943 transferred to 1 RSU and returned to 2 Squadron on May 1, 1943. On May 11 claimed a Ki-21 Sally off the New Guinea coast. On December 30, 1943 to 4 RSU then returned to 2 Squadron on February 26, 1944. Afterwards, assigned to 3 Communications Unit on April 9, 1944 for radio physics laboratory work. On August 29, 1944 assigned to 2 Air Depot (2 AD) at RAAF Richmond. Post War On November 16, 1945 placed into storage at RAAF Richmond. Offered for disposal CDC 28/07/46. Sold to Macquarie Grove Flying School 24/09/47. Registered VH-SMM 18/12/50. Became VH-AGJ 14/12/66, then G-BEOX 25/03/77. Display This aircraft is displayed at RAF Museum Hendon. Painted in spurious 13 Squadron markings with fuselage code SF-R and a kangaroo motif. Currently, de-registered as G-BEOX.
