Aircraft History Built by Lockheed Aircraft Corporation (LAC) in Burbank. Constructor Number 3836. Purchased by the United Kingdom and assigned Royal Air Force (RAF) as Hudson Mark III serial number V9251. Disassembled and loaded aboard Waiotapu as cargo and shipped across the Pacific to New Zealand. Wartime History Delivered to the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) as Hudson Mark III serial number NZ2023. On September 29, 1941 BOC by Unit 1 and reassembled at No. 1 by Aircraft Depot (1 AD) at Hobsonville Airfield. Assigned to No. 1 Squadron Whenuapai Airfield. On February 25, 1942 assigned No. 4 Squadron at Suva Airfield (Nausori) on Fiji. On July 19, 1942 transfered to No. 9 Squadron at Plaine Des Gaiacs Airfield on New Caledonia. No known nose art or nickname. Mission History On December 7, 1942 took off from Plaine Des Gaiacs Airfield on New Caledonia on a local mission. Returning, this Hudson made a heavy landing and was damaged. On December 30, 1942 officially written off and reduced to spare parts. The rest of this Hudson was abandoned.
