Aircraft History
Built by Mitsubishi. Delivered to the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) as Mitsubishi J2M Raiden manufacture number 3008.

Wartime History

Attached to 381 Kōkūtai (381 Air Group), S-602 Hikotai with an unknown tail code (over painted). This Jack was flown in the defense of Manila and might have also been flonw by pilots from 332 Kōkūtai (332 Air Group).

Wreckage
On February 20, 1945 captured intact hidden under trees near Dewey Boulevard Airfield in southern Manila. When found, it had no tail number and the propeller was removed. The same report lists J2M3 3013 as captured the same date.

This aircraft was transported to Clark Field for technical evaluation by Air Technical Intelligence Unit (ATIU). Repaired to flying status and stripped to bare metal finish with U.S. star and bar insignia on the fuselage. The tail has S 12 Tech Air Intel Unit - S.W.P.A. with a red and white striped rudder.

This Jack made two test flights at Clark Field. During the second flight the engine was damaged. Later, destroyed on the ground when a B-25 Mitchell accidentally collided with it. Ultimate fate unknown, likely scrapped or otherwise disappeared.
