Aircraft History
Built by Bell in Buffalo, New York. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as P-39F Airacobra serial number unknown. Disassembled and shipped overseas to Australia and reassembled.

Wartime History
Assigned to the 5th Air Force (5th AF), 35th Fighter Group (35th FG), 40th Fighter Squadron (40th FS). Squadron Number 51 painted in black on the tail. During the middle of May 1942 or early June 1942, flown from Antil Plains Airfield northward to operate from 7 Mile Drome near Port Moresby.

On June 9, 1942 took off from 7 Mile Drome and was filmed by Australian war correspondent Damien Parer and later appeared in the newsreel US Bombers Blast Jap Bases (1942).

On June 16, 1942 took off from 7 Mile Drome piloted by Lt. Harvey J. Scandrett on a mission to intercept A6M2 Zeros over Port Moresby.

Ultimate fate unknown, likely scrapped or otherwise disappeared.
