Location
Lat 17° 56' 41S Long 122° 13' 54E  Broome Airfield is located at Broome in Western Australia in Australia. Still in use today as Broome Airfield or Broome International Airport.

Wartime History
At the start of the Pacific War, Broome Airfield was used by Allied aircraft evacuating from Java to Australia. Broome Airfield was attacked by Japanese aircraft on two occasions: the first raid on March 3, 1942 and second raid on March 20, 1942 when Bettys bomb Broome Airfield resulting in a number of craters off the end of the runway and in the tidal flats and resulted in one aboriginal killed.

On March 3, 1942 the first air raid against Broome, A6M2 Zeros from 3rd Kokutai (3rd Air Group) strafe parked planes and destroy four parked at Broome Airfield.

On March 20, 1942 the second air raid damaged the runway and killed an aboriginal.

Today
During 1976, there were aircraft bits, and even .50 caliber machine guns discovered in the airfield area. Since then, development in the town as a tourist destination has removed any remaining wartime relics from the airport area.

Still in use today as Broome Airfield or Broome International Airport as a small airport. The single runway is oriented 28/10 measures 8,064' x 148' surfaced with asphalt. Airport codes: ICAO: YBRM / IATA: BME.
