Location
Coomalie Creek Airfield was located near Darwin in the Northern Territory in Australia. Also known as "Coomalie Creek Field", "Coomalie Creek" or "Coomalie". Also, sometimes incorrectly spelled "Coomallie".

Construction
During 1942, a single runway was constructed surfaced with bitumen. Coomalie Creek Airfield was completed by the middle of November 1942.

Wartime History
On November 12, 1942 the first squadron to arrive at Coomalie Creek Airfield was Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) No. 31 Squadron with Beaufighters. Quickly Coomalie Creek Airfield was detected by the Japanese and bombed on six occasions with the first raid on November 22, 1942 and the last raid on November 10, 1943.

Today
Disused since the war. In 1995, part of Coomalie Farm owned by Richard Luxton. As part of the 50th anniversary of World War II, the 31 Squadron chapel at Coomalie Creek Airfield was rebuilt and visited by veterans from 31 Squadron during August 1995. The veterans dedicated a plaque at the chapel in 1998.

Tony Johnsoton adds:
"Coomalie Creek is now in private ownership and the strip is still in good repair. Some remnants still. I have been a guest at the site by the current owner."
