The map indicates the landing during the night of April 13, 1945 by the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) Marine Amphibious Reconnaissance Battalion on Minna Shima. On April 15, 1945 the U.S. Army field artillery units landed at Minna Shima to establish a fire base. On April 16, 1945 the 77th Infantry Division landed on the southern coast of Ie Shima. Meanwhile, on Okinawa Island on the Motobu Peninsula with a hatched line indicating the U.S. front line held by the 6th Marine Division (6th Mar Div) on April 16, 1945.
