Location Kerama Retto Seaplane Base was located in the Kerama Anchorage between Zamani Island and Tokashiki Island in the Kerama Island Group (Kerama Islands) in Okinawa Prefecture in southern Japan. Wartime History On March 26, 1945 captured when the U.S. Navy (USN) the "Western Islands Attack Group" arrived at Kerama Anchorage. On March 27, 1945 the U.S. Army 77th Division lands on Zamani Island and Tokashiki Island. On March 28, 1945 seaplane tenders began arriving in Kerama Anchorage and was used by the U.S. Navy warships and seaplane operations and as an anchorage for warships and transport.
