Location
Kushira Airfield is located at elevation of 331' / 100m above sea level near Kushira in Kimotsuki District of Kagoshima Prefecture on Kyūshū in Japan.

Wartime History
Built during April 1944 as a training base. On March 1, 1945, Kushira was used for kamikaze attacks. Kushira became the third largest kamikaze base, after Kanoya Airfield and Chiran Airfield. Starting in late April 1945 attacked by B-29 Superfortress and fighters until late July 1945.

Kushira War Dead Memorial Tower
LinkBuilt in October 1969, this memorial tower was built as a memorial. The area around the tower is called Kushira Peace Park.
