Location
Saienjo Airfield was located in western Manchuria, east of the border with Mongolia.  Exact location unknown. In Japanese, spelled "Saienjo" or "Saien-Jyo", because salt was found at this location. Known to the Russians as "Seinjo".

Wartime History
During the Battle of Khalkhin Gol / Nomonhan Incident this airfield used by JAAF aircraft May - September 1939. This airfield was the nearest to the frontlines.

1st Sentai (Ki-27) Kanchuerhmiao June - September 1939 Sunjia (Harbin)
59th Sentai (Ki-27) Hankow September 1939 - ?

Ki-27's of the 59th Sentai arrived during September and flew combat only on September 15, 1939 and claimed 11 enemy shot down and lost 5 pilots from the 1st Chutai.

"Operational Order A-1" on July 27, 1939 JAAF bombers departed Seinjo before dawn to attack targets inside Mongolia.
