Location Lat 15° 10' 0" N Long 120° 35' 0" E Angeles South Airfield was located to the south of Angeles to the west of Highway No. 3 (MacArthur Memorial Highway) in Pampanga Province on Luzon in the Philippines. Also known as Lara Airfield. To the north was Angeles Airfield. Construction Built prewar by the U.S. Army as a single runway with taxiways off both sides plus a taxiway that connected northward to Angeles Airfield. Wartime History During the Japanese occupation of Luzon used as a military airfield. In early December 1944, the Japanese Army 1st Airborne Brigade with two regiments prepared for Operation Te at Clark Field, Angeles South Airfield and Del Carmen Airfield. paratrooper jump against eastern Leyte. On December 6, 1944 the paratroopers loaded aboard Ki-49 Helens and Ki-57 Topsys from the 95th Sentai then took off at 6:00pm from Angeles South Airfield and Del Carmen Airfield bound for eastern Leyte with the paratroopers jumping over Buri Airfield and San Pablo Airfield. During January 1945 attacked by American aircraft. During late January 1945 liberated by the U.S. Army 37th Infantry Division, 145th Infantry Regiment.
