Location Lat 121° 5' 0" E Long 14° 40' 0" N Marikina Airfield was located in Marikina at the eastern edge of Manila in the National Capital Region (NCR) in Luzon in the Philippines. Also known as Marikina Field. To the west is the Marikina River and beyond Manila. To the south is the Pasig River and to the east is Antipolo in Rizal Province. Construction Built prewar as a civilian airfield. Wartime History During January 1942 occupied by the Japanese. During the Japanese occupation of the Philippines. During October 1944, used by Japanese Army Air Force (JAAF) direct cooperation (observation planes) and transport planes. One unit based at Marikina Airfield was 61st Anti-Air Wireless Unit. Starting in December 1944, targeted by American carrier planes and later bombers and fighters with missions continuing until late July 1945. American missions against Marikina Airfield January 21, 1944–July 29, 1945 By February 10, 1945 the U.S. Army 37th Division and 1st Cavalry Division had cleared all Manila and suburbs suburbs north of the Pasig River and pushed Colonel Noguchi's Northern Force either south across the Pasig River or east across the Marikina River.
