WESTERN PACIFIC: 70th Troop Carrier Squadron, 433d Troop Carrier Group moves from Clark
Field to Iwo Jima with C-46s.
U.S. Army: Japanese Army Lt. General Ishii commander 32nd Infantry Division on Halmahera Island with four high ranking Japanese Army and Navy Officers, two junior Officers including an interpreter and two other ranks were transported by PT Boat to Morotai Island where he surrendered to U.S. Army Major General Harry H. Johnson commander 93rd Infantry Division (Colored), who declined their request to keep their swords.
