Wartime History
Attached to the Ogasawara Corps with commander Lt. General Tadamichi Kuribayashi and emplaced on Iwo Jima.  On February 19, 1945, this battery fired upon US Marines landing and inflicted heavy casualties on them.  After expending all their rockets, the crew fought with captured weapons to the last man.

Wreckage
The launcher was abandoned on Iwo Jima and remained there until recovered and donated to Yasukuni Museum on August 15, 2003. The tube has a shrapnel hole in it. It is displayed with a 203mm shell.
