Gun History Built at the Osaka Arsenal in Osaka. Delivered to the Imperial Japanese Army (IJA) as 75mm Field Gun Type 38 (1905) Field Gun serial number 127. Converted into an "Improved Type 38" with a hollow box trail that allowed a barrel to elevate to a 43° angle. Wartime History Assigned to the 16th Division, 22nd Field Artillery Regiment. Likely, this gun was used in China during the Second Sino-Japanese War. During the Pacific War, shipped to the Philippines. During August 1944, shipped to Leyte and defended Burauen. By late 1944, abandoned or captured by the U.S. Army in the vicinity of Burauen. Display This gun was abandoned on private property and later donated to Burauen. Today, displayed outside the Burauen Municipal Building atop a concrete pedestal. The shield has three jagged shrapnel holes from the rear. The gun has replica wheels.
