Location
Lat 1° 13' 60S Long 116° 57' 0E  Manggar is located on the eastern coast of Borneo. To the southwest is the Manggar River and borders the Makassar Strait. To the west are Balikapan and Sepiinggang. Also known as "Mangar" or "Manggarbesar".

Wartime History
Manggar was occupied by the Japanese. During July 1945, liberated by the Australian Army.
