Location
Lat 0° 25' 0S Long 132° 10' 60E  Mar village is located on the north coast of New Guinea on the Vogelkop Peninsula near Sansapor due east of Biak. The U.S. Army built Sansapor Airfield (Mar Drome) near this location.

Wartime History
On July 30, 1944, U.S. Army Task Force Typhoon landed near Mar.  The landings, made without preparatory bombardment to achieve surprise, met no opposition.
