Location
Lat 0° 29' 59S Long 132° 5' 9E  Sansapor village and Sansapor Plantation are located on Cape Sansapor on the north coast of western New Guinea. Also spelled Sausapor. Offshore to the northeast is the Su Islands (Soe Islands) including Middleburg Island and Amsterdam Island (Mios Su). Prewar and during the Pacific War, located in Dutch New Guinea (DNG) in the Netherlands East Indies (NEI). Between 1963-2002 part of Irian Jaya. Today located in Tambrauw Regency in West Papua Province in Indonesia.

Prewar
The Dutch establshed a plantation at Sansapor.

Wartime History
On July 31, 1944 at 8:44am the U.S. Army 3d Bn of 1st Inf, 6th Div lands unapposed at Sansapor. Quickly, Sansapor Plantation and Sansapor village are secured and defensive positions established. Cape Sansapor is found to be unsuitable for PT base but is to become site of radar warning installation and staging base area. During late September 1944 elements of the 31st Infantry Division arrived from Morotai to maintain the base at Sansapor.
