Location
Lat 34° 40' 60N Long 137° 34' 0E  Kosiis located in the Hamana District, Shizuoka Prefecture on the southern coast of Honshū in Japan. Borders Lake Hamana (Hamana-ko) to the north and the Enshu Sea to the south. On March 23, 2010, Arai was merged into Kosai and thus no longer exists as an independent municipality.

Memorial to B-17 Crew Members
A stone tablet honoring the crew of B-17H 43-38882 was dedicated in the town. A priest for Jingu-ji temple in town collected money for seven years and built it.
