Wartime History
After the January 9, 1945 U.S. Army landing at Lingayen Gulf, Amlang was part of the 43th Division zone. On January 14, 1945 the U.S. Army 158th Regimental Combat Team (158th RCT) "Bushmasters" advances from Damotoris eastward but meets such heavy fire in defile near Amlang that it pulls back approximately to its starting line. On January 15, 1945 the 158th Inf, assisted by artillery, naval gunfire, and aircraft, begins clearing the defile near Amlang. Meanwhile, the 63d Inf drives northward in effort to make contact with 158th but stops for night well south of Amlang. On January 18, 1945 the 758th Infantry Regiment and 63d Infantry Regiment begin attacking Blue Ridge near Amlang.
