Location
The Mindanao Sea (Bohol Sea) is located in the Visayas (Visayas Islands) in the central Philippines. To the north is Bohol Island and Leyte Island. To the south is Mindanao Island. Connected to the Philippine Sea through the Surigao Strait, to the Camotes Sea through the Canigao Channel and Cebu Strait and to the Sulu Sea between Negros Island and the Zamboanga Peninsula. During the Pacific War, known as the Mindanao Sea.

Wartime History
On October 25, 1944 during the Battle of the Philippine Sea, the Japanese Navy "Southern Force" passed the Mindanao Sea bound for the Surigao Strait and were attacked by American bombers escorted by fighters.
