Location Lat 16° 6' 48N Long 120° 32' 34E Pozorrubio is located at an elevation of 164' / 49m in the 5th District (District V) of Pangasinan Province in the Ilocos Region (Region I) of northern Luzon in the Philippines. Route 3 (Highway 3) connects Pozorrubio and Urdaneta. Wartime History During January 1945 after the U.S. Army landing at Lingayen Gulf, the Japanese Army 23rd Division's 64th Infantry was defending the approaches to Route 3 between Pozorrubio and Urdaneta. The Japanese had 10-15 artillery pieces mobile along the road. On January 14, 1945 the U.S. Army 43rd Division, 103d Inf established an outpost about 1½ miles southeast of Pozorrubio. On January 16, 1945 the 103d Infantry assisted by M4 Sherman tanks, virtually finishes clearing the Hill 200 area and elements move into Pozorrubio. During night, Japanese make local counterattacks with tanks from 7th Tank Regiment but are driven back with heavy losses. On January 17, 1945 the 103d Inf captures Pozorrubio after most Japanese have withdrawn. On January 18, 1945 five M4 Sherman tanks from 716th Tank Battalion assist infantry as they drive the fleeing Japanese from the area. On January 23, 1945 the 3d Bn, 103d Inf withdraws from Hill 600 back to Pozorrubio. Contribute
