Location Lat 16° 4' 13N Long 120° 45' 45E San Nicolas is an inland town at an elevation of 246' / 74m in the 6th District of Pangasinan Province in the Ilocos Region (Region I) of northern Luzon in the Philippines. To the west is San Manuel. To the northeast is Santa Maria West and the start of the Villa Verde Trail. The road at this location connects southward to Manila. Wartime History On February 1, 1945 the U.S. Army 32d Divsion, 127th Infantry Regiment less the 3rd battalion advances from San Manuel to San Nicolas. On February 5, 1945 they begin advancing up Villa Verde Trail with 2d Bn, 127th Inf, which has been patrolling from Santa Maria, where the trail enters the mountains. On February 6, 1945 they suspends attack while consolidating positions about 1,500 yards north of Santa Maria. Contribute
