Location Lat 9° 28' 0S Long 147° 9' 0E Kaevaga is an area in the Port Moresby area of southern New Guinea. To the south is Konedobu and beyond Port Moresby. Today located in National Capital District (NCD) in Papua New Guinea (PNG). Governor General's Residence (MacArthur's HQ) This prewar building is the house of the Commonwealth Governor General. During WWII, it was used by General Douglas MacArthur as his residence in Port Moresby beginning in November 6, 1942 until he relocated his headquarters to Hollandia. On November 30, 1942 on the veranda MacArthur told Lt. General Robert L. Eichelberger: "Bob…I want you to take Buna, or not come back alive."
