Location
Lat 8° 10' 11S Long 146° 11' 40E  Terapo is located rougly ten miles inland from the the Gulf of Papua on the southern coast of New Guinea. To the south is the Lakekamu River. Roughly 200 miles to the southeast is Port Moresby. Prewar and during the Pacific War located in the Territory of Papua. Today located in the Kerema District of Gulf Province in Papua New Guinea (PNG).

The Terapo Mission was established at this location.

"[early 1942]...we arrived at Terapo, a French Catholic Mission where we were welcomed by four European Fathers and taken to our quarters - comfortable thached bush buildings. We remained there for four to five days and were able to enjoy hot showers, wash our clothes and relax."
