Location Wallis Island is located off the north coast of New Guinea. Also known as Walif Island, Wallis Island or Valif Island. To the south is the north coast of New Guinea including But and Dagua. To the northwest is Tarawai Island (Tarawui). Prewar and during the Pacific War located in the Sepik District of the Territory of New Guinea. Today located in Wewak Islands Rural LLG of East Sepik Province in Papua New Guinea and is the provincial capital. Prewar During the German administration, a coconut plantation harvesting copra was established on the western end of the island.
