This photograph was taken at medium altitude over Blanche Channel looking northward. At the center left is Munda (Munda Point), Munda Airfield, Kia (with smoke from bombing) and Olsen's Landing on southern New Georgia. At the center left is Munda Harbor and offshore islands including Aumbaamba Island (Aumba) and Kaimbe Island. At the center right is the entrance to Roviana Lagoon. In the upper left in the distance is Kula Gulf and the eastern edge of Kolomonbangara Island.
