This photograph was taken at medium altitude over Blanche Channel looking northward. At the center left is Munda (Munda Point), Munda Airfield, Kia (with smoke from bombing) and Laiana (Ilangana, Olsen's Landing) and Zanana Beach on southern New Georgia. At the center left is Munda Harbor (Munda Bay) and offoshre islands including Aumbaamba Island (Aumba) and Kaimbe Island (Kiaba). At the center right is the eastern entrance to Roviana Lagoon with offshore islands including a the northwest tip of Roviana Island. In the upper left in the distance is Kula Gulf and the eastern edge of Kolomonbangara Island.
