Location
Coughlan Harbor is located on the northwest of Guadalcanal. Coughlan Harbor has a depth of 4.1 meters with a deeper patch and roughly a half mile offshore is Sow Reef and Pig Reef parallel to the coast. To the north is Iron Bottom Sound. To the southwest is Maravovo (Marovovo) on the high ground. Located 4 1/2 miles to the northeast is Cape Esperance. Prewar and during the Pacific War part of the British Solomon Islands Protectorate (BSIP). Today located in Guadalcanal Province in the Solomon Islands.
