Location
Hill 123 (Hill 2) located at the northern end of the ridge line with 123' elevation and is the dominant feature of Bloody Ridge (Edson's Ridge, Raider Ridge) on Guadalcanal. To the south is Hill 80 (Hill 1). When the U.S. Army occupied Guadalcanal, renumbered Hill 2 to simplify the naming of hills.

Col Edson Command Post
During the battle, U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) Col Edson's Command Post was first located in the the draw behind Hill 2, then he moved up onto the hill. the 1st para battalion CP was down the slope in the jungle to the east of hill 2.

Bloody Ridge Memorial
Located atop Hill 2. During the battle, this was the site of a medical tent. A white obelisk memorial was built at this location with a memorial plaque. Since 2003, the plaque was missing from the memorial.

Barbed Wire
Remains of barbed wire In the grass to the south and east of Hill 123 and even a full roll still i the grass. Peter Flahavin adds "A full roll was still in the grass or used to be, if it has not been collected for scrap."
