Location
Masamasa Island is located in the Solomon Sea in the Fauro Island Group (Fauro Islands) in Western Province of the Solomon Islands. To the east is Fauro Island. To the south is Piedu Island (Piru) and to the east is the northern tip of Choiseul Island.

Wartime History
Occupied by the Japanese during early 1942 until the middle of September 1945. During late September and October 1945 used as an internment area for Japanese Prisoner Of War (POW) camp internment area until repatriated.
