Location Lat 8° 5' 60S Long 156° 54' 0E Plum Pudding Island is a small uninhabited island in the Blackett Strait in the central Solomon Islands. The local name is Kasolo Island. To the west is Ghizo Island. The small island resembles plum pudding due to the shape and is fringed with white sand. After John F. Kennedy became U.S. President, the island became known as "Kennedy Island". Wartime History On August 2, 1943 in the afternoon, the surviving crew of PT 109 including Lt(jg) John F. Kennedy swam roughly 3.5 miles to the southwest to this small island. Contribute
