Location Lat 11° 11' 60S Long 153° 0' 0E Louisiade Archipelago borders the Solomon Sea to the north and the Coral Sea to the south. To the west is Milne Bay on the eastern tip of New Guinea. Also known as the "Louisiades". Wartime History During the Battle of the Coral Sea between May 6, 1942 until May 10, 1942 the Louisiade Archipelago was at the center of the action, located between the Allied and Japanese forces. Deboyne Island Group was used by Japanese seaplanes and several aircraft ditched in the area.
