Wartime History
During the Pacific War, pressed into service as a U.S. Army small ship with code S-136.

On April 11, 1943 anchored in Oro Bay on the north coast of New Guinea. Attacked by Japanese D3A Val dive bombers escorted by A6M Zeros during Operation I-Go. This vessel suffered damage to the plates from 60kg bomb splinters. Also damaged were HMS Hanyang and HMAS Pirie.

Damaged, the vessel entered nearby Harvey Bay where it was anchored for several days and temporary repairs were made, including securing timbers to the side of the hull. Later, Noora proceeded to Sydney Harbor for further repairs including the replacement of the engine.
