Tank History Delivered to the Imperial Japanese Army (IJA) as Type 89B I-Go Otsu hull number unknown. This tank has a rear trench tail. Wartime History Assigned to the 7th Independent Tank Company under the commanded by Captain Kono and shipped to Leyte and deployed near Burouen Airfield (Burauen). On October 20, 1944 after the American landing on eastern Leyte, the tanks of the 7th Independent Tank Company advanced eastward towards the landing area. Near Dulag they engaged the U.S. Army in a battle that resulted in six tanks destroyed or abandoned with the remainder withdrawing. Wreckage Ater the battle, this tank was captured intact and recovered from the battlefield and shipped to the United States for testing at Aberdeen Proving Ground. This tank was displayed outdoors at the U.S. Army Ordnance Museum (Aberdeen Proving Ground). In the late 2000s, painted overall white and was unrestored. During the 2010s, moved to the Ordnance Training Support Facility at Fort Lee.
