No. 1 Photographic Reconnaissance Unit (1 PRU) was part of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). Abbreviated as No. 1 PRU. During 1942 operated from Laverton Airfield. Personnel were attached to No. 31 Squadron.

Wartime History
On July 8, 1942 lost is Buffalo A51-2 pilot F/Lt. Richard R. H. Winter (KIA) crashed south of Tallarook, Victoria.

On August 23, 1942 during a Japanese air raid against Hughes Field (30 Mile) destroyed while parked is Buffalo A51-6 and Wirraway A20-599.

On September 25, 1942 lost is Buffalo A51-5 pilot Sgt James Austin (KIA) crashed at Derby.

On November 20, 1942 lost is F-4 Lightning A55-2 crashed at Hughes Field (30 Mile) due to an engine failure.

On April 29, 1943 lost is P-43D Lancer A56-7 pilot P/O Alan W. Green (MIA) on a flight bound for Laverton Airfield.

On September 1, 1944 lost is F-4 Lightning A55-1 crashed while landing at Coomalie Creek Airfield due to the right undercarriage collapse and was damaged beyond repair.
