Background
On January 28, 1942 constituted as the 384th Bombardment Squadron (Light). On March 2, 1942 activated in the 311th Bombardment Group (311th BG) at Will Rogers Field. On July 4, 1942 moves to Hunter Field. On July 27, 1942 redesignated 384th Bombardment Squadron (Dive). On October 1942 moves to Waycross, Georgia. On July 18, 1943 begins a movement overseas to China Burma India (CBI).

Wartime History
On September 20, 1943 arrives Nawadih Airfield in India. On September 30, 1943 redesignated 530th Fighter-Bomber Squadron (530th FBS).

On October 18, 1943 moves to Dinjan Airfield in India.

On October 21, 1943 a detachment of A-36s begins operating from Kurmitola Airfield in India. On November 1, 1943 the detachment returns to Dinjan Airfield.

On November 25, 1943 lost is P-51A Mustang 43-6069 pilot Colonel Harry R. Melton, Jr. (POW / MIA) on a mission to escort bombers over Rangoon in Burma and was shot down by Ki-43 Oscar.

On May 28, 1944 a detachment of P-51s returns to Kurmitola Airfield until June 11, 1944 then returns to Dinjan Airfield.

On May 30, 1944 redesignated 530th Fighter Squadron (530th FS).

On October 21, 1944 moves to Kwanghan Airfield (A-3) in China.

On October 30, 1944 a detachment begins operating from Hsian Airfield in China and on February 21, 1945 returns to Kwanghan Airfield (A-3).

On May 5, 1945 moves to Pungchacheng Airfield in China.

On August 1, 1945 moves to Hsian Airfield in China until the end of the Pacific War.

On October 17, 1945 moves to Shanghai in China. On February 16, 1946 inactivated.

Postwar
On May 24, 1946 redesignated as the 134th Fighter Squadron (134th FS) and allotted to the Air National Guard (ANG).
