Lakunai
Located close to the town. It was primarily a fighter strip, and after the war served as the contemporary airport until the 1994 eruption, when it was covered in ash. Today it is abandoned and unused.

Tobera
Japanese fighter airstip. Today, it is a copra and coconut plantation, but the runway and taziways are visible. Bombs craters, munitions, an abandoned repair tractor and aircraft wreckage are still present to this day.

Japanese fighter airstrip, today it is completly replanted with coconut and corpa. Tunnels and ravetments are still visible.

Vunakanau

Vunakanau
Field where RAAF Wiraways rose to meet the overwhelming Japanese onslaught, and after Japanese occupation was a major airstrip for them.

 

Sea Plane Base

Seaplane Base
Japanese seaplane base and repair area, near Supher Creek, also nearby Anti-Aircraft emplacements.
