Aircraft History Built by North American Aviation (NAA) in Inglewood as the tenth B-25C manufactured. Constructors Number 82-5074. On February 9, 1942 delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as B-25C Mitchell serial number 41-12439. Purchased by the Netherlands for the Militaire Luchtvaart (ML-KNIL) Army Aviation Corps of the Royal Netherlands East Indies Army for use in the Netherlands East Indies (NEI) as B-25C Mitchell serial number N5-136. On February 27, 1942 took off from Hamilton Field flown by a Royal Air Force (RAF) Ferry Command crew via Hickam Field then across the Pacific to Australia arriving in early March 1942. In early April 1942 at Archerfield Airfield then flown to Canberra Airfield (Fairbairn). Wartime History During late June 1942 assigned to No. 18 Squadron (18 Sqn) and renumber as B-25C Mitchell N5-124. Previously, that ML-KNIL serial number was assigned to B-25C Mitchell 41-12444. During July 1942, photographed in the hangar at Canberra Airfield (Fairbairn). On September 1, 1942 requisitioned by the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF). On September 3, 1942 arrived at Amberley Field near Brisbane. Ultimate fate unknown, likely scrapped or otherwise disappeared. References Previously, that ML-KNIL serial number N5-124 was assigned to B-25C Mitchell 41-12444 until late June 1942.
